Yellow Tomato

The tomato which has yellow color fruit when the tomato fruit ripens is yellow tomato. Yellow tomato fruits do not turn into red color if the fruit is kept for further ripening. There is a variety of yellow tomato varieties with respect to the size of the yellow tomato fruits, shape of the yellow tomato fruits, fruiting pattern of the yellow tomato fruits in the inflorescence clusters and breeding methods used to develop the yellow tomato varieties.

There are open pollinated yellow tomato varieties as well as hybrid yellow tomato varieties. The yellow tomato fruit varies from cherry size to as large as the large size hybrid red tomato. Generally the yellow tomato fruits have lower amount of organic acid and sweeter than the red ripe tomato. The yellow tomato is really bright yellow.

The yellow fruits of the yellow tomato have thin skin but thick flesh. The juice of yellow tomato is very thick. The yellow tomatoes are delicious and beautiful in salad. Generally yellow tomatoes are not grown commercially. A research and breeding institute in the Netherland developed yellow tomato variety that is very sweet, tasty but poor in organic acid content.

There are heirloom varieties of yellow tomato too in different parts of the world. There is grape tomato too of yellow tomato kind. The grape yellow tomato is in long truss. Commercial tomato seed producing company have developed hybrid yellow tomato. The yellow grape tomato and cherry yellow tomato are resistant to cracking.
