Tomato Sauce
Tomato sauce is one of the vegetable processed items made from tomato fruits cooking the tomato fruits after removing skin and seeds. The tomato sauce is served as part of food dish. The tomato sauce is generally preferred with vegetables or meat.
The simplest tomato sauce is made chopping the tomato fruits with or without the skin and seeds. Generally tomato skin and tomato seeds are not preferred in tomato sauce. The tomato sauce is also called as tomato ketchup if the sauce is made adding vinegar.
The chopped tomato fruits are cooked in frying pan with cooking oil such as olive oil. The cooking is done in simmering flame. The simmering is done until the thick viscous liquid forms. Spices are also added to the tomato sauce. The selection of the spices depends on the locality and preferences of the consumer.
The tomato sauce also contains salt and sugar. In some countries white wine is also added to make the tomato sauce. The addition of the white wine prevents the tomato sauce from drying and decaying. In some tomato sauce, garlic and onion are also added in paste form before simmering the cut tomato pieces, but the paste of the garlic and onion is simmered first before adding the tomato pieces in the pan.
Seasonings are done with spices such as basil, oregano and parsley. Powder of black paper is also sparsely added but the choice depends on the locality. Taste preferences vary from country to country. Addition and quantity of the spices including the powder of black paper varies from place to place. Some also add red chilly powder to make the tomato sauce.
In other method of tomato sauce preparation at your kitchen, the following method is used. By the method, the tomato sauce is also made in brief time duration at your kitchen. In the first attempt, prepare tomato juice of small amount of red ripened tomato fruits for making the tomato sauce. In brief, the tomato sauce is made from the tomato juice mentioned in the page of tomato juice.
For making tomato sauce from the tomato juice, the tomato juice is simmered in a large-diameter saucepan in order to get the thick liquid. The tomato juice is boiled in the saucepan until the volume of the tomato sauce becomes 55% to 33% volume of the tomato juice. The boiling time will be about two hours for the tomato sauce making from the tomato juice. Lemon juice or citric acid is poured into the jars before filling the tomato sauce into the jar. Then the tomato sauce is filled into the jars leaving the ¼ inch headspace. The lid is adjusted then.

Tomato sauce refers to the tomato puree with salt and small amount of some spices in the USA. The tomato puree is sold in cans. The tomato sauce is not consumed as such but consumed with other food items. The tomato sauce is also called as tomato ketchup if the tomato sauce is made with the vinegar. The tomato sauce is consumed as base for almost all the food dishes for delicious taste and flavoring.
