Tomato for Cancer Prevention Several studies have showed that consumption of cooked tomato and processed tomato products lowered the risk of cancer in different parts of the human body. The lycopene content present in blood and other parts of the human body comes through the consumption of cooked tomato and processed tomato products.

The research conducted in more than 700 women. Among them, 289 had breast cancer. The dietary lycopene was estimated in the women. One of the research finding was that that the women who used to take tomato products in their diet had 36% less chance of developing breast cancer.

Similar research was conducted to determine the effects of consumption of tomato products on the prevention of prostrate cancer. It was done in the duration of 13 years in 600 men. The men who did not have cancer were taking tomato products in their diet. They had lowered 60% chance of developing prostrate cancer, the research result concluded.

Research showed that consumption of tomato products lowered the chance of developing lung cancer in men and women both who are not smoking. Thus the intake of tomato is protective against the lung cancer too.
