Time of planting

The gardeners must be familiar about the time of growing tomatoes. The time of tomato planting depends on the geographical location, and climatic conditions in one way. The time of planting also depends on how we are growing tomatoes; growing tomatoes by direct sowing method or growing tomatoes by transplantation method.

The time of planting is also dependent on environment where we are growing tomatoes such as in greenhouse or in open field. The time of planting also depends on the temperature stability. Average temperature of 21 to 240C is the best for growing tomatoes, but growing tomatoes can be done up to the low temperature of 180C.

Generally, tomato seedlings suffer from transplantation shock, so pre-planting treatment must be done with growth regulators before the uprooting of the seedlings. The pre-transplantation treatment is very beneficial for the health of tomato plants, early establishment of the tomato plants, proper vegetative growth and finally the tomato harvests. Transplanting of the tomato seedlings should be done either during afternoon or it is recommended to uproot the seedlings and transplant them in a cloudy day.
