Irrigation for growing tomatoes
Growing tomatoes requires enough soil moisture. For it, frequency of irrigation depends on the soil type, season and variety. Excessive watering such as waterlogged condition is not beneficial for the health of the plants if you are growing tomatoes in your vegetable garden. Irrigation is not required for the crop if growing tomatoes is started planting the seedlings in rainy season. If you are growing tomatoes in your vegetable garden, you should water the crop in winter season as well as in summer season. The frequency of watering is done to the crop once in two to three weeks in winter and once in a week in summer if you are growing tomatoes in your vegetable garden.
For growing tomatoes, it is strongly advised not to water the plants heavily if the crop has undergone through long dry days. So; for it, light watering should be done first; then, after few days enough watering should be done. If you water the crop heavily after long dry days, the fruits will crack. Similarly; if irrigation is delayed for growing tomatoes, the plants will undergo a stress of water deficiency which will deteriorate the quality of tomato fruits and lower the fruit yield.
