Himalayan Tomato Gravy

You can prepare tomato gravy: Himalayan tomato gravy very easily. For the preparation of the Himalayan tomato gravy, you need to have the following items. You can buy the spices from the Nepalese or Indian spice stores at your locality.

1. Tomato: 1 kilogram or canned tomato about ½ kg     

2. Spices: clove, small cardamom, flavoring leaves (Tej Patta), Nutmec (Jaidana) 

3. Chinese peanut 50 grams   

4. Ginger 25 grams (You can decrease its amount.)  

5. Garlic 25 grams (You can increase its amount. If you want to take garlic regularly, you cannot increase its amount. But if you want to take its amount in large quantity for a few days in winter, you can consume the large quantity. But don’t take too much garlic. For an adult man, don’t exceed its amount 25 grams in a day for an adult. Regular consumption of garlic in large amount in uncooked form will cause anemia.) 

6. Salt (according the taste of the people where you are going to prepare)  

7. Cooking oil (Olive oil, or plant oil of your taste, or butter) 150 ml 

8. Timur powder: Optional (Available in Nepalese spice store or Indian spice store): Sparsely added. You can buy the Timur at the Nepalese spice store nearby.  

9. Hot chilly powder: Optional: Sparsely added. 

10.Hot black pepper powder: Optional: Sparsely added.  

Caution: Please keep powder of chilly, Timur and black pepper away from children.

 1. Boil the tomato fruits, peel and make paste 

2. Make paste of ginger and garlic 

3. Make the paste of roasted peanut  

4. Pour the cooking oil onto a pan and heat 

5. Add the paste of spice and heat until the mixture becomes light red 

6. Add the paste of ginger and garlic onto the pan  

7. Pour the paste of the tomato fruit or tomato puree onto the pan 

8. Continue cooking in simmering heat until the mixture becomes light brown  

9. Pour the paste of the peanuts into the pan  

10. Add the timur powder sparsely. Add the powder 1/10 of the salt you added to the mixture.   

11. Simmer the whole content for 10 to 20 minutes. The duration of cooking is based on the flame of heat  

12. The tomato gravy is ready.     

13. Then you can serve the Himalayan tomato gravy with any vegetables or   meat: It may be with cooked or steamed potato or any cooked or boiled vegetable, cooked or steamed chicken, or mutton or tofu or nutrella or fish. You can cook the dish with the tomato gravy with light simmering for about 5 to 10 minutes and serve. The most important thing is your item of vegetable or meat must be cooked before mixing the Himalayan tomato gravy into it.
